Novel Approach To The Treatment Of Ovarian Cancer

Company Overview

CanTx is seeking a novel approach to the treatment of abdominal cancers, by developing a product to be administered intra-peritoneally with the ability to seek out tumor cells and to eliminate the full hierarchy of cells within tumors. The final product is envisaged to be Trx-1 in a 'smart' drug delivery system.

Our ultimate goal is to develop the drugs and the procedures needed to deliver a personalised treatment for ovarian cancer. In other words, to individualize chemotherapy to ensure the greatest likelihood of success for each patient.

We expect to have a lot of scientific information to add to this site as we go along, but to start the ball rolling we have three sections below which will explain what this new venture is aiming to achieve.

Ovarian cancer

Ovarian cancer starts from the cells in and around the ovary. There are many different types of ovarian tumours. The different types of ovarian cancer are named after the types of cells that they come from.

If you’re diagnosed with ovarian cancer, you will have tests to find out:

  • the type of ovarian cancer - this is based on what type of cells the cancer started from. It is also called the histological type
  • the stage, which describes if and how the cancer has spread
  • the grade, which means how different the cancer cells look compared to normal cells.
